"Mrs.Life who tortures, Mr.Death who loves""
Artist: Milly Rowden
Size: Medium
Type: Poetry
Text: "There are two such beings, by the names of Mrs.Life and Mr.Death/There are not lovers but very old friends/But this story is not about a friendship this ancient and old/but it is about a very young girl/Whose story deserves to be told/ She was rather odd/Compared to most people in a very specific sense/You see while others danced and sang on the earth/She refused too and did not enjoy the world/with a great immense/Unlike most people/Florrie Bain could see/Something others refused/And would not believe/She could see life/For what she truly was/A dictator, a punisher, a monster with claws/Claws that would hook into people/From the very moment they are born/Manipulating them with promises that are sworn/Life is beautiful! And glorious! And love! and art!/But Florrie Bain knew better/She knew life had no heart/Because if life had a heart/It would be all those things people say/But there is a lot more than beauty/There is also pain/There is loosing and rejection/There is suffering and more/There is starving, and aching/Misery, grief, sadness, and the poor/There is trauma and tribulation/There is heartbreak and woe/And if life was true as lovely as they say/She would hide these things and not go that low/Life is a liar/Florrie Bain believes
/And for that very reason/She tries to leave/She’s tried to leave a million times/But Mr.Death won’t let her/And let me tell you why/Because although Florrie Bain/Makes an excellent point/She is refusing to see/What else there may be
/Because Life is not all the things Florrie Bain has said/She is also a giver of passion, and happiness, and peace/Desire and love that over the years will not cease/Yes, there are horrible things that happens with life/But even with Mr.Death you would have to say goodbye/But most of all Mr.Death knows/That the real reason Florrie Bain hates life/Isn’t because of life at all/He knows that long long ago/He came to visit her home on strawberry street/But not to take her but instead her mother/Who if anyone had meet her, had said she was very sweet/He knew that then
/when they once sat in the very same room/That Florrie Bain had chosen to hate life/And be filled with gloom/And over the years/Florrie Bain and Mr.Death became very close/While she told him of how she wanted to go with him/And he would tell her no/And the more days that went by/Mr.Death was asked to come less often/And Florrie Bain began to soften
/And Mr.Death would eventually look through the window/At a young woman by the name of Florrie Bain/She would laugh with her husband and children/And would no longer dote on the pain/She would learn to love Mrs.Life/As she has loved Mr.Death
/And he would not come to get her until she was very very old/And she had no more breath"

Artist: Milly Rowden
Size: Medium
Type: Poetry
Text: "As I look into the eyes of the painting/It’s as if they’re staring back and me/Maybe they are not the eyes of a painting that I see//Maybe I am the painting itself/Sitting on displace/For people to look me up and down/And continue at a constant pace//Some may admire my beauty/Some may even say a minute or two/But most people will keep walking by/Because that’s just what they do//Eventually there’s gonna be a person/That’s gonna stop and stare/But this time they’ll stay/And admire your/beauty and how your skin is rather fair//They'll comment on the color/That/makes up your smile/The curves from the brush/That make you seem rather wild//And then you come back to the painting and you/You are staring at it/And it is staring at you"
